Pix Visual LED

Pix Visual LEDWhatever this is useful for, I don’t really care (and I don’t really know either…). It’s kinda cool so that is all that matters!

The official Pix webpage calls it a ‘multi-functional sports light’ - whatever that means. But it looks cool, so it must do something cool, right? Let’s see…

There are 177 LEDs clustered into a circular disc thingy that is roughly the size of your palm. What you can do with these LEDs is to display whatever it is that you can think of and flash it around. By that I mean that the gizmo is capable of displaying whatever image/pattern/text combination that you can dream of. Its built-in visual effects allows you to create [tag]LED[/tag] animations and the sorts. The picture I have included here says it better than my paragraph ever will.

Programming the pixYou also get Pix software to install on your trusty ol’ PC to design your - uh - designs. Then you can upload these designs onto the Pix community site and show it off to your pals. The stuff that you create can be shared via email, MMS and the likes.
Then there is this function where you can ‘match icons’ with others who have the same pictures as you do. The way this works is that you share a certain picture design with your group and when you guys get together, you can do this match ID thing via infrared. You know what? I have no idea how this thing is supposed to work…

Like I said, the most important thing here is that this is a cool gadget. Who cares what it does? I get to make cool little LED animations and hypnotise myself to sleep with it! Or maybe I’ll just hang it off the back of my bicycle as a really cool looking rear lamp! The possibilites are endless!!!

I gotta have one!
