Ever Wish You Could Carry Tons of Books Around…?
Wednesday, October 4th, 2006
Well now you can!
Not literally though. I’m talking about ebooks, of course. And the device to carry it all is called the Sony Reader.
Sony intends for this device to supplement the traditional books and not to replace them. Personally, I think the old paper-bound books will be around forever - there is no beating that feeling of having read a good book the traditional way.
The Reader boasts a paper-like display that is high contrast, high resolution, daylight readable and has a 180 degrees viewing angle. This is achievable by using the E.INK technology.
Measuring at 6.9″ x 4.9″ x 5.8″, it is smaller than a many paperbacks.
It has a 64MB internal memory with slots for external memory effectively allowing you to carry around more ebooks than you can read.
You can browse and purchase ebooks via CONNECT ebooks to download into your Reader.
But why buy an electronic gizmo to just read books with? That’s why the Sony Reader can do more than just serve you ebooks. It can also display PDF files, personal documents, blogs, newsfeeds, and JPEGs with the same amazing readability. It even plays unsecured MP3 and AAC audio files.
