US Air Force PHaSR Weapon

Wednesday, October 4th, 2006

Air Force PHaSRThis is looks like something straight out of a Japanese anime movie!

Firstly, PHaSR stands for Personnel Halting and Stimulating Response. Personnel Halting sounds just like what a weapon is meant to do but Stimulating Response sounds kinda dodgy, don’tcha think?

The PHaSR was developed for providing a non-lethal method in crowd control and immobilizing attackers. It does this by shooting low-powered laser beams that induces a temporary blinding effect on targets - kinda like stepping out into the light after spending some time in the dark.

It weighs just as much as a fully loaded M60 machine gun but I guess you will not be getting any recoil while firing this thing. Makes it much easier to aim since the PHaSR only works on one target at a time. Maybe a widespread version is in the works.

So what happens if the attacker wears eye protection? Maybe there is a ‘kill’ setting too?

it only temporarily blinds them. i think its a good idea but to big and weighs as much as an m60? way to heavy for crowd control
